Karen Xu, founder of Anew Elite Realty, is a leading real estate professional in Silicon Valley and the Bay Area. Born in China, Karen has always had an independent streak. She left home at 13 to attend boarding school, and at 18, she moved to Dubai to work as a waitress, seeking adventure and wanting to see the world. After Dubai, Karen went to Switzerland to attend a prestigious hotel school before coming to the United States to earn a bachelor’s degree in hospitality and business administration from Washington State University.

Karen moved to the Bay Area in 1998, and within a year, purchased her first condominium on a $29,000 salary. This daring move sparked her lifelong passion for real estate, and she started working as a real estate agent in 2009. Since then, she’s become a licensed real estate broker, Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource® (SFR®), Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives (HAFA) specialist, and member of the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors® and Santa Clara County Association of Realtors®. She also holds an MBA from San Jose State University.
